Today, the Green Party litter pick covered Eagle Rec, Ford’s Field, Queensway, Lee Road, around St Margaret Street shops through to Nursery St, Southway and Henley Road. Many of these areas looked as if they’d been recently covered, although there was still broken glass, cigarette butts along with bags and cans in the hedges. Others, however, looked badly neglected. For example, the play area in Eagle Rec was pretty good with several recently emptied bins, but Ford’s Field had just one overflowing bin and a vandalised play area. Also, there were four rats scavenging around a bin on Queensway.
Obviously the main problem is those who drop litter, making the local area less pleasant for everyone. However, it also looks as if the council could do better in some areas. Let me know if there are particular areas that concern you.
